Met Council is a nonprofit organization representing and coordinating the efforts of grass roots Jewish Community Councils in New York City, and other citywide and national Jewish organizations. It is the primary advocate for the needs of the Jewish poor and near poor, and increases public recognition among Jews of the extent and nature of poverty in the NYC Jewish community through legislative and social advocacy. Dedicated to the alleviation of social, economic, housing, and related problems of the Jewish poor, working poor, elderly and recent immigrants in the New York City area, Met Council delivers needed services to thousands of people every day. Services include feeding the hungry, caring for the weak, elderly and frail, finding shelter for the homeless, and assisting those who are able to work to find employment.
